Ramesh Venkat is an Associate Professor of Marketing and Director of the David Sobey Retailing Centre at Saint Mary's University's Sobey School of Business. He holds a PhD in Business Administration (Marketing) from the University of British Columbia and an MBA in Marketing & MIS from Simon Fraser University. His research focuses on consumer behavior in retail settings, retail innovation processes, and the application of biometric tools like eye-tracking and EEG for marketing insights. He teaches courses emphasizing experiential learning through case studies and simulations, including Online & Social Media Marketing, Brand Management, and Retail Analytics.

Dr. Venkat's current research projects explore retail innovation outcomes, consumer behavior during crises, and the impact of employee gratitude on customer loyalty. His advisory work includes guiding over 20 graduate students and currently serving on committees for one master's and two PhD candidates. As Director of the David Sobey Retailing Centre, he bridges academic research with industry needs through collaborative projects with retail companies.
His consulting work focuses on analytics for small-to-midsize retailers, leveraging real-world marketing experience gained through prior brand consulting roles.
