David Baker is a Lecturer in the School of Writing, Literature and Film at Oregon State University within the College of Liberal Arts. As a writer and independent filmmaker, he directs Oregon State Productions, creating science documentaries and films focused on the wine industry to advance the university’s land-grant mission.
- Education: MFA in Fiction from Columbia College Chicago, B.S. in Literature from University of Illinois at Chicago
His research interests include Documentary Film Studies, Science Communication, and Wine Industry exploration. His recent works like Three Days of Glory (2018) and Saving Atlantis (2018) emphasize environmental themes, while American Wine Story (2014) examines agricultural culture.
He teaches Documentary Film Studies (WL 445) and engages in broadcast content creation that aligns with Oregon State University’s outreach goals.
As director of Oregon State Productions, he collaborates with teams to produce science-focused documentaries that address global challenges and highlight regional industries.
