Dave Giblin is an Associate Professor at Buckinghamshire New University, serving as the Subject Lead for Intelligence, Security and Resilience and temporary Deputy Head of the School of Aviation & Security. He has a 30-year policing career with West Yorkshire Police, including roles in training, national cyber crime coordination, and immersive learning development. His expertise spans multi-agency incident command, counter-terrorism (CHANNEL), and resilience frameworks.
Education includes an undergraduate degree in Education and Training earned during his policing tenure. He is affiliated with the Society for Evidence-Based Policing and Association for Learning Technology, and formerly served in the Army Reservist (Royal Military Police/Royal Logistics Corps). Professional roles beyond policing include work as a Dispatcher/Turnaround Coordinator at Gatwick Airport and consulting for the College of Policing's Direct Entry, Assessments, and Immersive Learning teams.
His teaching responsibilities include BSc Intelligence, Security and Resilience; BSc Police Studies with Criminal Investigation; and the Part-Time MSc Organisational Resilience. Volunteer activities include speaking for the Commonwealth War Graves Commission and 25 years with the Royal International Air Tattoo.
Research focuses on integrating real-world operational experience with academic frameworks in security education, resilience planning, and immersive training methodologies. Current work emphasizes practical applications of intelligence analysis and multi-agency collaboration in crisis management scenarios.
