Daryl Van Tongeren is a Professor of Psychology and Director of the Frost Center for Social Science Research at Hope College. His research explores the intersection of existential meaning, religion, and virtues like humility and forgiveness.

Research Interests focus on social-cognitive mechanisms underlying meaning in life, religious behavior, and prosocial virtues. His Templeton-funded work examines intellectual humility in leadership and religious deidentification.
Scientific Awards include Fellowships from the Society of Experimental Social Psychology and APS Rising Star designation. His grants span projects on humility, meaning after disasters, and religious beliefs.
