David McPherson is a Professor of Philosophy in the Hamilton School of Classical and Civic Education and Affiliate Professor in the Department of Philosophy at the University of Florida. Previously, he held positions as Associate Professor at Creighton University and Visiting Research Professor at the University of Colorado Boulder. His research focuses on ethics (especially virtue ethics), political philosophy, meaning in life, and philosophy of religion. He authored The Virtues of Limits (Oxford, 2022), Virtue and Meaning (Cambridge, 2020), and edited Spirituality and the Good Life (Cambridge, 2017). Current projects include a Templeton-funded grant on spiritual alienation, leading to his upcoming book Spiritual Alienation and the Quest for God.
Education: B.A. (2005, Bethel University), M.A. (2011, Marquette University), Ph.D. (2013, Marquette University). His publications span books, articles, and edited volumes addressing moral absolutes, virtue ethics, spirituality, and modern ethical challenges. He teaches courses on ethics, political philosophy, and the search for meaning in secular societies.
