Darwin R Labarthe, MD, PhD, MPH, is a Professor in Preventive Medicine (Epidemiology) at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. He is affiliated with the Robert J. Havey, MD Institute for Global Health, the Northwestern University Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute (NUCATS), and the Institute for Innovations in Developmental Sciences. His work focuses on cardiovascular disease prevention, epidemiology, and public health initiatives, including the development of salt substitutes to reduce cardiovascular events and stroke.
Research Interests: Labarthe specializes in the epidemiology and prevention of cardiovascular disease, hypertension management, and global health strategies. His contributions include advancing public health policies and guidelines to improve cardiovascular health at population levels.

He currently co-directs the Healthy Chicago/Health Hearts Cardiovascular Health Plan and serves on advisory committees for hypertension and cardiovascular health.
