Darrell Christie is a Lecturer at Queen’s University, affiliated with the Dan School of Drama and Music under the Faculty of Arts and Science. He serves as Director of the Queens Vocal Ensemble and holds roles such as Musical Director at Cooke’s Portsmouth United Church and Artistic Director for the Kingston Townsmen. His work spans community arts organizations, choral conducting, and music theatre direction across the UK, Canada, Australia, and France.
Education: Studied at Keele University (UK) and York University (Canada), specializing in vocal performance, conducting, and music education.
Research interests focus on nurturing musicians' technical and interpretive skills to communicate through song. His approach emphasizes sustainable development in vocalists' abilities and performance storytelling.
Professional highlights include co-founding Voices In Partnership (UK), conducting Keele University’s Bach Chorale, and directing musicals like Les Misérables and Little Shop of Horrors. He has performed with renowned choirs such as the Nathaniel Dett Chorale and Kingston Chamber Choir.
Labs/Teams: Active with the Kingston Chamber Choir, She Sings, Eccentric Vocal Ensemble, and Bottle Tree Productions.
