Byrne explores intersections between empiricism and semantic externalism, self-knowledge, and the metaphysics of consciousness. He critiques the 'phenomenal concepts strategy' and defends neo-Fregean alternatives, contributing to debates on physicalism, a priori knowledge, and epistemic contextualism.
His recent publications address topics such as phenomenal concepts, anti-individualism, and Fregean approaches to consciousness. He has collaborated on interdisciplinary projects, including pandemic-related educational positioning.
