Daren Britt is a Principal Lecturer at the University of Brighton within the School of Humanities and Social Science. He leads the Inclusive Digital Societies Research Excellence Group and has held roles including Chair of the Association for Higher Education in Alcohol and Drugs (AHEAD) from 2009-2018. His work focuses on substance misuse intervention strategies, addiction education, and pedagogic innovation like Inquiry-Based Learning.

Research Interests: Daren explores addiction policy, substance use interventions, and experiential learning methodologies. He co-developed the Professional Certificate in Substance Misuse Intervention Strategies and contributed to national curricula via AHEAD. Recent work includes a funded pilot on performance-enhancing drug use in boxing (2016) and collaborations with NHS bodies.
Grants & Projects: Led a 2014 England Boxing pilot project on drug use in amateur boxing, funded through partnerships with Addiction Professionals and the Federation of Alcohol Professionals. Previously seconded to the West Sussex Drug Action Team (2008-2011) to design workforce development programs.
Labs/Teams: Active in the Inclusive Digital Societies Research Excellence Group and collaborates with third-sector organizations like MankindUK on counseling and research strategy development.
