Professor Katy Holloway is a leading academic in Criminology at the University of South Wales. Her research focuses on substance use, harm reduction, and drug-crime connections, with a particular emphasis on policy evaluation and public health interventions. She has held roles such as Chair of the Kaleidoscope Research, Development and Innovation Foundation and serves on UK and Welsh Government advisory boards, including the Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs and the National Implementation Board for Drug Poisoning Prevention. Her work addresses issues like opioid substitution therapy, minimum alcohol pricing, and LGBTQ+ substance use experiences. Holloway has led numerous projects funded by Welsh Government and Health Care Research Wales, evaluating treatments like Buvidal and Substance Use Officers in probation services. Her teaching includes module leadership for 'Drug Interventions' at the MSc level. Recent publications explore pandemic impacts on substance misuse services, overdose prevention, and policy adaptations.
