Daragh Carville

Daragh Carville serves as Reader in Creative Writing (Scriptwriting) at Birkbeck, University of London, within the School of Creative Arts, Culture and Communication and the Department of English and Humanities. He has taught Scriptwriting at Birkbeck since 2015 and currently serves as Programme Director for the BA Creative Writing. His academic career is uniquely complemented by his professional success as a playwright and screenwriter.

Carville's research and creative interests focus on scriptwriting across multiple media platforms, with particular expertise in television drama, playwriting, and film. His work demonstrates a strong emphasis on crime drama, character development, and narrative structure, often exploring themes related to British and Irish cultural contexts.
