Dara Strolovitch is a Professor of Women’s Gender and Sexuality Studies, American Studies, and Political Science at Yale University. Her research focuses on political representation, social movements, and intersectional analyses of race, class, gender, and sexuality. She holds a B.A. from Vassar College and a Ph.D. from Yale University. Prior to Yale, she was an Associate Professor at the University of Minnesota and a Professor at Princeton University, where she also held appointments in African American Studies and Politics.
Her work explores how marginalized groups navigate advocacy, crisis narratives, and systemic inequities. Notable books include Affirmative Advocacy (2011), which examines interest group politics, and When Bad Things Happen to Privileged People (forthcoming), critiquing racialized and gendered understandings of crisis. Her research has been supported by grants from the National Science Foundation, Russell Sage Foundation, and others.
