Dr. Dara Delgado is Assistant Professor of Religious Studies–Christianity at Allegheny College and concurrently serves as Adjunct Professor of Religion & Philosophy at Roberts Wesleyan College. Through student-centered pedagogies, she partners with learners to cultivate independent, globally minded scholarship.
Education:

Research Interests: Dr. Delgado’s scholarship focuses on the history and theology of American Pentecostalism, especially the intersection of race, gender, and popular culture within modern American Christianity. Her dissertation explores the life and work of Bishop Ida Bell Robinson, illuminating how Black Holiness Pentecostal women navigated class, race, and gender in the 20th century.
Her writings delve into hymnody, leadership, and theological resistance among Black Pentecostal communities, demonstrating how spiritual practices served as vehicles for social and political survival.

Teaching & Mentorship: At Allegheny College she teaches courses such as Philosophical & Ethical Issues and Introduction to New Testament Literature & Theology, fostering safe, dialogical classrooms.
