Daphne Vallas

Daphne Vallas is a Lecturer in Academic Professional Development at the University of Westminster’s Centre for Education & Teaching Innovation (CETI). She leads the AdvanceHE-accredited PRESTige program, supporting educators in achieving Higher Education Academy Fellowships. With a background in French Language & Culture and extensive experience in pedagogic innovation, she has shaped modern language education and academic professional development across multiple institutions.

• Former Teaching Fellow in French at Queen Mary University of London
• Leader of Modern Language and French Teacher training programs at International House London

Her research focuses on Culturally Responsive Pedagogy in higher education, aiming to eliminate exclusionary practices through inclusive material design. She also explores critical reflection in Academic Professional Development, emphasizing active and experiential learning to enhance educator growth.

Daphne’s work extends to Multiculturalism in the Classroom, Authentic Assessment, and Task-Based Learning, with applications in professional domains like finance, healthcare, and NGOs. She has developed bespoke training programs for Polylang and Modern Languages teams.
