Dr. Danuta Radzioch is a Professor in the Department of Medicine at McGill University's Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences and serves as a Senior Scientist at the Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) at the Glen site. She leads research within the Program in Infectious Diseases and Immunity in Global Health at the Center for Translational Biology, focusing on molecular mechanisms of inflammatory responses associated with cystic fibrosis, asthma, and cancer.
Dr. Radzioch's research centers on understanding and correcting lipid imbalances and inflammatory responses in chronic diseases. Her laboratory has developed multiple mouse models for cystic fibrosis, allergic asthma, airway hyperresponsiveness, atopy, and colon cancer. A key focus is on fenretinide (LAU-7b), a compound that corrects omega-6 to omega-3 fatty acid imbalances and has received FDA orphan drug designation for cystic fibrosis treatment. Her work bridges basic molecular mechanisms with translational applications, particularly in developing novel anti-inflammatory therapies that target chromatin remodeling and gene expression regulation.
Dr. Radzioch's scientific contributions include the development of innovative high-throughput screening methods for CFTR modulators and the discovery that fenretinide normalizes fatty acid metabolism during chronic infections. Her research demonstrates that correcting lipid imbalances can alleviate symptoms in cystic fibrosis and allergic asthma, with one therapeutic candidate now in preparation for Phase 1b clinical trials. Her publications span molecular biology, immunology, and translational medicine with a strong emphasis on lipid mediators and inflammation resolution.

Dr. Radzioch leads a research program focused on translational applications of lipid metabolism research to inflammatory diseases. Her laboratory has established multiple mouse models for studying cystic fibrosis, allergic asthma, and colon cancer, with particular expertise in developing and testing novel anti-inflammatory compounds that target lipid imbalances. Current work includes CRISPR-based cellular models for CFTR research and nanoparticle-based drug delivery systems for cancer immunotherapy.
