Danny Caporaletti is an Adjunct Professor in the Cinema department at Virginia Commonwealth University's School of the Arts. He holds an MFA in Fiction Writing from the University of New Orleans and maintains an active career as a director/producer through his consultancy Human Level Design LLC. His research focuses on narrative filmmaking, particularly life's transformative moments and dream-inspired themes, with specialization in adaptive reuse of historic structures and lighting design.
His pedagogical approach emphasizes collaborative development of design perspectives to enhance human experiences through spatial solutions. Current projects include developing a feature film about a music shop in Richmond, Virginia, where he resides with his family.
Notable recognition includes winning the Best Short Prize at the Fine Arts Film Fest in Venice, California for his film A Little Sun. His work has been screened internationally in Berlin, Toronto, New Orleans, and Los Angeles.
