Sterling Clinton Hundley

Sterling Clinton Hundley is an American painter, draftsman, illustrator, and educator based in Richmond, Virginia. He currently serves as a Professor in the Department of Communication Arts at Virginia Commonwealth University's School of Arts. Additionally, he holds the title of Clinical Professor in the Department of Surgery at VCUHealth through his Artist-in-Residence role.

• Recognized internationally for his work commissioned by NASA, Criterion Collection, The United States Post Office, The New Yorker, The Grammys, and major corporations
• Recipient of six American Museum of Illustration medals, considered the highest annual achievement in commercial illustration
• Illustrated five stamps for the US Post Office
• Work held in permanent collections including the US Senate Building, Amazon, Capital One Bank, and Rolling Stone

Hundley's creative practice spans murals, exhibitions, book covers, and film collaborations. He has run workshops globally, from San Francisco to Oslo, and is represented by Principle Gallery and Rubin Pfeffer Content, LLC. His recent work includes film poster design for projects like Finding Mr. Reich, blending surrealism and narrative visual storytelling.

He was the Walker D. and Helen Bryant Wyman Visiting Professor at UWRF in 2019 and leads the NASA SAND Challenge as Principal Investigator. His educational initiatives include developing design systems for creative industries and a forthcoming book Think Louder on creativity in the artificial age.
