Danielle Nielsen is a Professor of English and Dean of the Commonwealth Honors Academy at Murray State University. She holds a Ph.D., M.A., and B.A. from Case Western Reserve University, Nebraska Wesleyan University, respectively. Her research focuses on rhetoric, Victorian literature, gender studies, and colonial narratives. Notable works include analyses of Flora Annie Steel’s On the Face of the Waters and studies of suffrage cookbooks and digital fan cultures. She teaches courses ranging from first-year composition to advanced technical writing. Her professional affiliations include the College English Association and Modern Language Association.
Research Highlights: Dr. Nielsen explores transculturation in colonial literature, pedagogical innovations in writing classrooms, and gender roles in Victorian and modern contexts. Recent projects address meme culture, interdisciplinary teaching, and material culture’s role in historical memory.
Leadership & Service: As Dean of the Commonwealth Honors Academy, she oversees interdisciplinary academic programs. She coordinates the First-Year Composition program and advocates for universal design in education. Her work bridges traditional literary scholarship with modern digital and pedagogical practices.
