Danielle M. Zerr is Professor and Division Head of Pediatric Infectious Disease at University of Washington, Adjunct Professor of Epidemiology, and Medical Director of Infection Prevention at Seattle Children's Hospital. She holds the Children's Hospital Guild Association Endowed Chair and serves as Interim Director of the Center for Global Infectious Disease Research.
Research spans two primary domains:
- Epidemiology of viral pathogens in healthy/immunocompromised children
- Healthcare-associated infection prevention strategies
Recent publications focus on pediatric virology, vaccine effectiveness, and infection prevention. Article analysis reveals consistent themes in respiratory virus management, healthcare epidemiology, and equity-focused interventions. Research employs methodologies from randomized trials to large-scale surveillance networks.
Grant leadership includes HRSA's Pediatric Pandemic Network coordinating national preparedness and CDC's New Vaccine Surveillance Network. Her team investigates antimicrobial resistance patterns through NIH-funded studies on pediatric Enterobacteriaceae infections.
Directs infection control programs across Seattle Children's clinical and research facilities and mentors trainees through the Center for Clinical and Translational Research.
