Danielle J. Lindemann is a Professor of Sociology at Lehigh University and holds a visiting appointment as the Stanley Kelley, Jr. Visiting Professor of Distinguished Teaching in Gender & Sexuality Studies at Princeton University (2025–2026). She earned her BA in English/Creative Writing from Princeton University (2002) and her PhD in Sociology from Columbia University (2010). Her research focuses on gender, sexuality, culture, and deviance, with particular attention to how non-normative practices illuminate social norms. Lindemann is the author of three books, including *True Story: What Reality TV Says About Us* (2022), which was widely acclaimed and featured in major media outlets.
Her work has been covered by The New York Times, The Atlantic, CNN, and others, and she has authored op-eds for Newsweek, Salon, and Quartz. Lindemann has received teaching awards and has taught courses on gender, sexuality, family structures, and popular culture. She lives in Princeton, NJ, and maintains an active presence in public sociology through media commentary and interdisciplinary engagement.
Upcoming roles include a spring 2025 visiting position at Princeton’s Gender & Sexuality Studies program and a continuation of her distinguished teaching professorship in 2025–2026.
