Danielle Falzon is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology at Rutgers University. She holds a Ph.D. in Sociology from Brown University (2022). Her research focuses on power dynamics and inequality in climate change decision-making, bridging environmental sociology, global studies, and political ecology. She examines climate negotiations at the UN and adaptation efforts in Bangladesh, analyzing how structural inequities impact climate justice outcomes.
Her work emphasizes qualitative methods, exploring meso-level organizational intermediaries to connect global and local scales. Key projects include studying obstruction in UN climate finance negotiations and evaluating adaptation strategies in Bangladesh through the lens of organizational norms. She is affiliated with the International Centre for Climate Change and Development (ICCCAD) in Bangladesh and the Climate Social Science Network (CSSN).
Her recent publications analyze climate finance transparency, vulnerability-based allocation frameworks, and locally led adaptation. She has spoken on climate capacity-building at COP26 and advocates for migrant-sensitive approaches to climate adaptation in the Bengal Delta. Her research prioritizes equity, institutional reform, and interdisciplinary collaboration to address global climate challenges.
