Danielle Callaway, M.D., Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. Her research focuses on the effects of mechanical force on type 1 pulmonary epithelial (AT1) cells during lung development, integrating transgenic models, advanced imaging, and next-gen sequencing to improve neonatal care outcomes. Dr. Callaway's work originated from her postdoctoral studies in Dr. Edward Morrisey's lab at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, where she explored AT1 cell functions beyond gas exchange.

Her lab emphasizes redox biology pathways and cytochrome P450 regulation, particularly in hyperoxic environments. This work aims to address neonatal respiratory pathologies through mechanobiological insights.
