Bhagavatula Moorthy

Bhagavatula Moorthy is Professor of Pediatrics and Neonatology at Baylor College of Medicine, with additional membership in the Dan L Duncan Comprehensive Cancer Center. His research examines cytochrome P450 regulation, hyperoxic lung injury mechanisms, and bronchopulmonary dysplasia. Dr. Moorthy received his Ph.D. from the Indian Institute of Science and completed postdoctoral training at the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee.

His publication record demonstrates consistent focus on molecular mechanisms of lung injury and environmental toxicology. Recent work explores polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon exposure impacts on neonatal development, microbiome dysbiosis, and genetic susceptibility factors. Research utilizes knockout mouse models to investigate enzymatic pathways in oxidative stress responses.

Honors include presidency of the Molecular and Systems Biology specialty section (2016-2017). His laboratory investigates therapeutic interventions for oxygen-mediated tissue damage and environmental carcinogenesis.
