Danielle Amero

Danielle Amero serves as an Assistant Professor at the School of Occupational Therapy, Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (MCPHS), bringing extensive clinical experience from hospital-based adult care including geriatric psychiatry units. Before transitioning to full-time academia in 2022, she managed a large occupational therapy department overseeing budgeting, program development, and daily operations while providing direct client care.

Dr. Amero's research centers on Implementation Science with a pilot program integrating occupational therapy into New Hampshire's community behavioral health centers. She actively develops advocacy skills and lifelong learning curricula for occupational therapy students and clinicians, while creating leadership programs for underserved practice areas. Her work bridges clinical practice and policy, particularly focusing on dementia care partner experiences and expanding OT services in mental health settings through legislative channels.

As an educator, she teaches Mental Health, Managing the Practice of Occupational Therapy, Environments and Technology, and capstone business courses, with prior instruction in adult development, upper extremity care, and OT services management.

Dr. Amero served as president of the New Hampshire Occupational Therapy Association (NHOTA) from 2021-2025 and actively participates in the American Occupational Therapy Association's Affiliated State Association Presidents group. She spearheaded successful legislative changes to New Hampshire's OT practice laws during 2022-2023 and secured funding in 2024 to establish OT programs at two Community Behavioral Health Centers. Her current advocacy focuses on sustainable reimbursement mechanisms for community mental health OT services.
