Prof. Dr. Daniela Hayder-Beichel serves as Professor of Nursing Science at Niederrhein University of Applied Sciences' Department of Health Care since 2020, where she coordinates academic programs and maintains regular consultation hours. Her office (Room H 012) supports students and colleagues in advancing evidence-based nursing practices.
Her educational foundation includes Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) and Master of Science in Nursing (MScN) degrees, culminating in a doctorate (Dr. rer. medic.) in nursing science between 2000-2009. Prior clinical experience spans intermediate and intensive care settings (1993-2003), providing practical context for her academic work.
Hayder-Beichel's research centers on urinary incontinence management and continence promotion, with significant contributions to evidence-based nursing protocols. She pioneered the Center for Knowledge Transfer in Healthcare (ZeWiG, 2010-2017) and co-developed Germany's Expert Standard for Continence Promotion. Current work investigates smart incontinence technologies through an Essity-funded clinical trial, while her publications consistently address dementia-related continence challenges and skin health preservation in elderly care.
Her 15 most recent publications reveal strong thematic continuity in continence care innovation, spanning clinical trials, systematic reviews, and practical implementation guides. Key trends include technology integration in long-term care, dementia-specific continence strategies, and psychosocial approaches to reduce stigma.
As active professional society member, she leads the German Society for Nursing Science's 'Nursing Phenomena' section and 'Incontinence' working group, while serving on their Ethics Committee and the German Continence Society. Her current grant portfolio includes industry-funded research on smart incontinence monitoring systems and national guideline development projects.
Hayder-Beichel founded the Center for Knowledge Transfer in Healthcare (ZeWiG) and maintains strong ties with German Cochrane Centre and DNQP. Her teaching portfolio includes Evidence-Based Nursing II and Quality Development in Nursing, directly translating research into curriculum.
