Katja Boguth is a Professor of Clinical Nursing Science at Alice Salomon University of Applied Sciences Berlin (ASH Berlin), where she serves as Head of the Study Program for Nursing Science with a focus on clinical nursing. She has held this position since October 2020, contributing to the development of nursing education and research in Germany.
Her educational background includes a Doctorate in Medicine from Charité University Medicine Berlin (2009) and a Diploma in Nursing Management from Alice Salomon University of Applied Sciences Berlin (2002). Prior to her current position, she was Professor of Nursing Science at Akkon University Berlin from 2010-2020, and served as Research Associate at the Institute for Gerontological Research coordinating a nationwide project on geriatric nursing training from 2007-2010.
Professor Boguth's research interests focus on clinical nursing science, particularly urinary incontinence in old age, evidence-based nursing practices, healthcare quality management, and the working conditions of nurses. She investigates communication and conflict management in healthcare settings, with additional specialization in gynecology and pediatric nursing contexts. Her work emphasizes practical applications that bridge academic research with clinical practice in the nursing field.
She currently leads a significant research project funded by the Senate Department for Science, Health, Care and Equality (October 2020 - December 2023) titled 'Clinical nursing research / urinary incontinence in old age.' This project aims to develop sustainable cooperation structures between universities, practice facilities, and skills labs, while exploring digital teaching methods for nursing education. The project involves collaboration with Evangelical University of Applied Sciences Berlin and Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin.
