Daniel Wintersberger

Dr Daniel Wintersberger is a Lecturer in Human Resource Management at the Department of Management, Birmingham Business School, University of Birmingham. He joined as a Teaching Fellow in 2014 and was promoted to Lecturer in 2018. He teaches across the MSc International Business, BSc Accounting & Finance, and full-time and executive MBA programmes in Birmingham and Singapore.

His research centers on Human Resource Management and Industrial Relations, with a focus on the transport sectors—especially civil aviation in India and Brazil. His doctoral research, funded by the International Transport Workers’ Federation (ITF), examined the impact of low-cost models on work, employment, and trade union representation following market deregulation. Findings have informed the ITF and the International Labour Organisation. He currently leads a FAPESP-funded project on tacit knowledge sharing in automotive assembly lines in Brazil, extending his interest into Industry 4.0 and knowledge management in manufacturing.

His publications reflect a strong engagement with labor dynamics in safety-critical and deregulated industries, particularly airlines. Trends in his work show a consistent focus on power relations, employee representation, and the human implications of industrial transformation across global contexts.
