Dr. Rachel Fisher is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Birmingham's School of Engineering. Her research bridges academia and industry, focusing on extreme weather hazards, transport infrastructure resilience, and climate change adaptation. She holds a PhD and MEng from the University of Birmingham and has over a decade of combined academic and industrial experience.

Research interests include climate change adaptation strategies for transport systems, asset management optimization, and nature-based solutions. Her current NERC-funded fellowship focuses on developing climate-conscious engineering curricula and knowledge pipelines for resilient mobility systems.
Grants & Funding: Secured over £500k for BCRRE research, including a £150k NERC Knowledge Exchange Fellowship (2022–2025). Advising 2 PhD students addressing rail industry challenges.
Labs/Teams: Active in the Birmingham Centre for Rail Research and Education (BCRRE) and the Centre for Excellence for Digital Systems.
