Daniel Swann is an Assistant Professor of Sociology at Goucher College, specializing in race, religion, political sociology, and social psychology. He earned his Ph.D. and M.A. in Sociology from the University of Maryland and completed dual B.A. degrees in Philosophy and Sociology at Rutgers University.
- Current research focuses on Black atheism, racial discourse, and social movements.
- Teaches courses on Generation Z, comparative social media, and wealth inequality.
- Co-organizer of the University of Maryland Critical Race Initiative and contributor to The Sociological Cinema.
Publications span topics from atheist identity to racial rhetoric under Obama, with methodological emphasis on qualitative research. Invited talks include analyses of mass incarceration and social movements at Mt. St Mary’s University and Virginia Commonwealth University.
