Professor Daniel Schofield is a faculty member at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), holding positions as Professor of Media Pedagogy and Deputy Head of Education within the Department of Education and Lifelong Learning at the Faculty of Social Sciences and Education. His research focuses on media literacy, digital competence, and youth media practices, with particular emphasis on reflexivity, global citizenship, and entrepreneurship education.
He leads the MEDLiE research group (Media Literacy and Education Research Group) and serves as project leader for ELEMENT (Exploring Living and Learning through Media and New Technology Practices). Schofield has contributed to national policy through his role on the committee for protecting children from harmful media content (NOU 2021:3).
His teaching spans pedagogical methodologies, media education, and qualitative research, with courses like PED6111 (Pedagogical Research Methods) and PED3616 (Media Education). Key publications include works on mediagraphy as a learning tool, media literacy in higher education, and youth entrepreneurship education.
Schofield actively engages in public debates on media ethics, digital responsibility, and school roles in preparing youth for digital societies. His work bridges theoretical frameworks with practical educational interventions, emphasizing critical media engagement and societal relevance.
