Daniel Osher is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Michigan Law School and currently serves as Deputy Legal Counsel to Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer. His work focuses on voting rights and election law litigation, with significant experience in federal and state courts.

Osher specializes in litigation centered on expanding voting rights and defending electoral integrity. His notable cases include leading the successful Voting Rights Act challenge in Allen v. Milligan (2023), which reshaped Alabama’s congressional districting, and overturning Georgia’s restriction on voting during the Saturday after Thanksgiving in 2022. He has also defended the 2020 presidential election results and represented members of Congress in electoral disputes.
In addition to his academic role, Osher clerked for federal judges across multiple jurisdictions, including the Hon. Michael P. Shea (US District Court for Connecticut), the Hon. Ronald M. Gould (Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals), and the Hon. Gonzalo P. Curiel (Southern District of California).
