معرفی
Daniel N. Hebert was Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where his laboratory investigated protein maturation, quality control, and degradation mechanisms in the endoplasmic reticulum.
His research examined how molecular chaperones assist in co-translational folding and modification of glycoproteins, and how quality control systems target misfolded proteins for destruction. His work had implications for genetic diseases involving protein maturation defects including cystic fibrosis, albinism, and heart disease.
Professor Hebert studied model systems including tyrosinase (in melanin synthesis) and influenza hemagglutinin using cell biological, biochemical, and molecular approaches across cell-free assays, isolated organelles, and live cells.
