Daniel Kraushaar is a Core Director of the Genomic & RNA Profiling Core and an Assistant Professor in the Departments of Molecular and Cellular Biology and Education, Innovation and Technology (EIT) at Baylor College of Medicine. He holds a BS in Biology from the University of Aberdeen (2004), a PhD in Genetics from the University of Georgia (2010), and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NIH, Bethesda, MD) from 2015–2020.
His research focuses on epigenetic mechanisms, particularly histone variant dynamics (e.g., H3.3) and chromatin regulation, with applications to stem cell differentiation and disease diagnostics. He also explores the role of heparan sulfate in embryonic stem cell fate decisions and signaling pathways. His work integrates next-generation sequencing technologies to study gene expression and chromatin states across developmental processes.
In academic innovation, Kraushaar leads educational initiatives through the Genomic & RNA Profiling Core, developing formal biotechnology workshops to enhance core facility training for researchers. These efforts aim to bridge technical expertise with cutting-edge genomics applications.
