Daniel Harper serves as the Associate Dean at the New York School of Interior Design (NYSID), overseeing undergraduate programs and contributing to all degree initiatives. He holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Higher Education Administration from Ohio University and a Master of Interior Design from Harrington College of Design, blending academic leadership with design expertise.

Harper’s research focuses on evidence-based design, the leadership role of interior designers, and the integration of makerspaces in academic libraries, as highlighted by his co-authored book Academic Library Makerspaces: A Practical Guide to Planning, Collaborating, and Supporting Campus Innovation. He has presented globally on these topics.
With 14 years of experience as a design practitioner in commercial and healthcare design, Harper bridges industry and academia. He advocates for leadership as service, supporting curriculum development, accreditation, diversity initiatives, and study abroad expansion at NYSID. Additionally, he is an award-winning textile artist specializing in art quilts, reflecting his creative commitment to design.
