Daniel G. Krutka is an Associate Professor of Social Studies Education in the Department of Teacher Education and Administration at the University of North Texas. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Oklahoma and is a recognized scholar in the fields of educational technology and social studies education. His work bridges theory and practice, with a focus on democratic education in digital contexts.
Dr. Krutka's research explores the intersections of technology, education, and democracy. His scholarship contributes to critical conversations in social studies education, digital citizenship, and teacher development. He is particularly interested in how digital tools shape civic engagement and pedagogical practices in K–12 and higher education settings.
His published works span top-tier journals such as Harvard Educational Review, Computers & Education, Theory & Research in Social Education, and Teaching & Teacher Education. He co-edited the influential volume Keywords in the Social Studies: Concepts and Conversations, contributing to critical discourse in the field.
Dr. Krutka has earned several prestigious awards recognizing his contributions to educational research and leadership:
