Daniel Degischer

Daniel Degischer is a Lecturer at MCI Management Center Innsbruck, affiliated with The Entrepreneurial School. He holds degrees in Political Economy and Management from the University of Innsbruck and has completed a student exchange at National Chengchi University, Taipei. His research focuses on Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A), post-merger integration, open strategy, organizational learning, and digital transformation, with a particular emphasis on acquisition experience effects, integration processes, and strategic renewal in crisis scenarios.

Key research areas include: contextual factors influencing M&A outcomes, transfer of acquisition experience, open strategy practices during restructuring, and IoT-driven sustainability in energy systems. He has been recognized with the M&A Science Award (1st Prize) for his work on acquisition integration and transaction experience.

His teaching includes roles at TU Dublin (MSc International Business) and EGADE Business School (Global Strategy). He has supervised numerous bachelor and master theses on topics ranging from open strategy dynamics to post-merger cultural integration challenges. Degischer is a Co-Track Chair at the British Academy of Management and has received grants from the Tyrolean Science Foundation for research on organizational learning from acquisitions.

Recent work explores strategic adaptation in crises, including open strategy frameworks for turnaround scenarios, and the role of stakeholders in digital business models. His publications span top journals like Academy of Management Perspectives, Journal of Business Research, and Utilities Policy, with a strong focus on empirical analyses of acquisition performance and strategic renewal processes.
