Daniel Barker Flores is a DPhil student in Politics at the Department of Politics and International Relations (DPIR) at the University of Oxford, and a member of Green Templeton College. He serves as a Lecturer in International Relations at Pembroke College and a Graduate Teaching Assistant at Somerville College. His research focuses on urban security, governance, and organized crime in Latin America, with a doctoral thesis analyzing territorial control dynamics in marginalized communities across Mexico, Colombia, and Brazil. He is funded by the Economic and Social Research Council (Grand Union DTP) and the Sir David Watson Scholarship.

His research interests include the intersection of politics and organized crime, subnational democracy, and the construction of local-order systems by criminal groups.
