David Doyle

David Doyle is a Professor of Politics at the University of Oxford and Head of the Department of Politics and International Relations (DPIR). He is a Fellow of St Hugh's College and previously served as Director of the Latin American Centre. His research focuses on comparative politics and political economy, particularly taxation, tax morale in Latin America, and the political effects of migrant remittances.

He has held editorial roles including serving as editor of the Journal of Latin American Studies. His work appears in top journals like the American Political Science Review and Comparative Political Studies, addressing topics ranging from protest dynamics in Ghana to legislative power measurement methodologies.

Doyle has been recognized with the John Fell OUP Research Fund (2015) and has co-led research projects on policy measurement using machine learning. He advises PhD students including Guadalupe Chavez and Javier Pérez Sandoval, and collaborates on interdisciplinary initiatives like the Government and Politics Network. His teaching emphasizes comparative political economy and Latin American governance frameworks.
