Danelle Smith

Danelle Smith is a Lecturer and Graduate Faculty member in the Athletic Training Education Program at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, where she has served since 2012. She previously held faculty roles, including Assistant Professor at Buena Vista University (2002-2012) and Instructor positions at the University of Evansville (1999-2002) and Dakota Wesleyan University (1997-1999).

• Education: M.A. in Athletic Training from Western Michigan University (1996), B.S. in Physical Education with minors in Athletic Training and Health Education from University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh (1994)

Her research focuses on clinical preceptor education, functional movement in rehabilitation, and peripheral vision training for concussion injuries. She emphasizes student-centered learning and unique career development opportunities in athletic training.

Smith has been actively involved in professional organizations, including the National Athletic Training Association (symposium attendee since 1994) and the Wisconsin Athletic Training Association (NW Representative on the Board of Directors from 2014-2020). She also served as a BOC Examiner (2001-2007) and is certified as an Athletic Training Clinical Instructor Educator since 2003.

Current roles include Clinical Coordinator for Athletic Training and Associate Lecturer in Health Science. She teaches courses such as Introduction to Athletic Training, Therapeutic Interventions, and Kinesiology, while encouraging students to engage faculty for support in career goals.
