Andrea Cripps, Ph.D., ATC, is an Associate Professor and Coordinator of the Master's of Athletic Training program at Bowling Green State University (BGSU), part of the College of Education & Human Development's School of Applied Human Development. She holds a B.S. from Lake Superior State University, an M.A. from Central Michigan University, and a Ph.D. from the University of Kentucky.
Her research focuses on sensory system impairments (visual, vestibular, somatosensory) post-concussion and their effects on balance, as well as educational declines following sports-related concussions. She teaches courses including Pathology & Evaluation of Orthopedic Injuries, Therapeutic Modalities, and BOC preparation.
Her work spans athletic training education, injury prevention, and neurorehabilitation. Notable areas include concussion management, biomechanical analysis of movement, and the application of therapeutic modalities. Her research also addresses tactical population fitness, standardized patient training, and exercise protocols for athletes with chronic conditions like IBD.
Dr. Cripps has collaborated on studies involving technological tools like the FitLight Trainer™ and the Head Shake Sensory Organization Test (HS-SOT), emphasizing reliability and clinical application. She explores interdisciplinary approaches to sports medicine, emphasizing both clinical practice and athlete well-being.
