Dr. Dan Burns is a Senior Enterprise Fellow at the University of Southampton, affiliated with the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) Applied Research Collaboration Wessex. His research focuses on predictive modeling in healthcare, machine learning applications, pandemic response strategies, and clinical deterioration monitoring. He collaborates on initiatives like PROactive discharge tools and the PPDRCOM project for community patient risks. His work spans emergency medicine, infectious disease, and chronic condition management. Key projects include evaluating telemedicine for oxygen saturation monitoring (COVID-19 Oximetry @home) and developing synthetic datasets for cardiovascular risk prediction.
Dr. Burns has contributed to over a dozen peer-reviewed articles since 2021, addressing topics such as neuroendocrine tumor epidemiology, iNKT cell immunology, and SARS-CoV-2 detection methods. His interdisciplinary approach integrates digital health tools, statistical analysis, and clinical data to improve healthcare outcomes. He is a member of the Digital Health and Biomedical Engineering research group and actively participates in national initiatives to enhance healthcare delivery through innovation.
