Dr. Kinda Ibrahim is an Associate Professor in Academic Geriatric Medicine at the University of Southampton, affiliated with the School of Medicine's Department of Geriatric Medicine. She serves as Deputy Lead for the NIHR Wessex Applied Research Collaboration (ARC) Ageing and Dementia Theme and ARC Wessex Associate Lead for Career Development. Her research focuses on Medicines Optimization and Deprescribing in older adults, targeting polypharmacy reduction in populations with frailty, dementia, and sarcopenia. She leads initiatives like the MODIFY and STOP-DEM programs and co-chairs the Network for European Researchers in Deprescribing (NERD). Dr. Ibrahim also spearheaded the ARC Qualitative Network (200+ members) and develops implementation science frameworks for complex interventions in healthcare. Her work emphasizes workforce development and mentoring early-career researchers through programs like the NIHR Pharmacy Profession Incubator.
Her teaching roles include Deputy Lead for the MMedSci Programme, supervisor of BMedSci research projects, and leadership in postgraduate modules such as the Clinical Research Skills (CRS) Module. She advises on qualitative research for the Allergy MSc Dissertation and supervises PhD students (current: Qian Tan, Alex Smith, Saleh Alsanie; completed: Natalie Cox). Her grants and collaborations include NIHR Development Awards, the Digital Anticholinergic Reduction Tool project, and studies on social prescribing in medication review.
