Dale Clifford

Dale Clifford is the Dean of the School of Fine Arts, School of Visual Communication, and School of Foundation Studies at the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) since 2024. He has held multiple leadership roles at SCAD since 2002, including Chair of Visual Communication at the American University in Dubai (1996-2002), Professor of Foundation Studies, and Associate Dean. His academic background includes an M.F.A. in Visual Arts from Clemson University and a B.F.A. in Art from Miami University.

Dale Clifford’s research and professional work focuses on visual communication, printmaking, and foundational art education, with a particular emphasis on paper art and environmental themes. His exhibitions, such as War Birds and Natural History: Critical Condition, reflect his exploration of organic forms, natural history, and innovative papermaking techniques.

Clifford has been actively involved in curriculum development and assessment as a Chief Reader and Exam Leader for the College Board AP Art and Design Program since 2004. He contributes to professional organizations like the Atlanta Printmakers Studio and the Southern Graphics Council, fostering academic and artistic collaboration in visual arts and education.
