Joe Tsambiras

Joe Tsambiras is a Professor of Foundation Studies at Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) since 2016. He holds an M.F.A. in Printmaking from Georgia State University and a B.F.A. in Illustration from SCAD. His academic career includes adjunct roles at Kennesaw State University, University of West Georgia, and the Art Institute of Atlanta, alongside part-time assistant professorships. Tsambiras specializes in printmaking processes including relief, intaglio, and lithography, and has developed curricula for these disciplines.

His research interests focus on the intersection of printmaking with social commentary and interdisciplinary art practices. Notable works include the monograph FORMS (2014) and album art collaborations with bands like Shimmering Stars and Little Country Giants. He actively contributes to the Atlanta art community as a founding member of the Atlanta Printmakers Studio since 2007.

His awards include the Hambidge Center Residency Fellowship (2014) and multiple Creative Loafing accolades (2010). Tsambiras has presented artist talks and workshops at institutions like the Swan Coach House Gallery and Kennesaw State University, emphasizing professional practices and imaginative expression in art.
