Dr. DaXuan Ng is a Lecturer in Counselling at the Singapore campus of James Cook University (School of Social and Health Sciences). He holds a PhD in Psychology (2020–2024, JCU), Master of Counselling (2012–2015, Singapore University of Social Sciences), and dual bachelor’s degrees in Psychology. His research focuses on personality psychology, intergroup attitudes, and culturally responsive mental health practices, particularly for marginalized communities. He received the 2025 Dean’s Award for Research Excellence, recognizing his contribution to understanding the role of openness in shaping social attitudes.
Dr. Ng teaches graduate courses in counselling research methods, practicum supervision, and clinical skills. His teaching emphasizes active learning, scoring consistently above university averages (4.5/5). He is a registered counsellor with the Singapore Association for Counselling and volunteers as a crisis responder and youth mentor. His professional roles include serving on the Lower Risk Executive Review Panel and Research & Publication Sub-Committee at JCU.
