DAWN PARKER is a Clinical Professor in the School of Teaching, Learning & Culture at Texas A&M University, affiliated with the Department of Curriculum & Instruction. She holds a Ph.D. in Curriculum & Instruction (1997) from Texas A&M, alongside an M.S. in Zoology (1991) and B.S. in Secondary Education (1989). Her research focuses on curriculum development, mathematics/science education, educational technology, and international educational systems, with notable work in Qatar's Independent Schools and U.S.-based teacher preparation programs.
Her courses emphasize cultural foundations of education, curriculum theory, and methods for middle school math/science instruction. She has advised doctoral student Richard Evans and led/co-led grants totaling over $100K, including studies on lab schools, global education expansion, and Qatar Foundation initiatives. She serves as Associate Editor for School Science and Mathematics and held leadership roles like Director of Teacher Preparation (2012-2016).
Her recent research explores digital storytelling in math education and the impact of innovative teaching tools on preservice educators. Projects include NSF-funded studies on learning-by-teaching models and collaborations with international institutions to enhance STEM education in diverse contexts.
