D.W.F. Brilman (Wim) is an Associate Professor at the University of Twente's Faculty of Science and Technology, within the Department of Chemical Engineering. He holds a PhD in Chemical Engineering and has extensive experience spanning academia and industry. From 1993–2002, he was a lecturer at the University of Twente, supervising 30 MSc students and 2 PhD students. He served as a senior researcher at Sasol Technology (2002–2007) before returning to the University of Twente in 2007. His research focuses on biomass-to-fuels/chemicals conversion, CO2 capture, and multiphase reaction technology.
Education:
- Bachelor's/Master's in Chemical Engineering (University of Twente, 1991, cum laude)
- Post-graduate designers-course in Process Design and Technology (Universities of Groningen and Twente, 1993)
Research Interests:
- Biomass conversion into sustainable fuels and chemicals
- CO2 capture technologies
- Multiphase reaction systems
- Amine chemistry and water adsorption mechanisms
Awards:
- Hoogewerff Ontwerpersprijs (1993) for outstanding design work with Shell.
Advising & Grants:
- Supervised 30 MSc students and 2 PhD students between 1993–2002
- Current focus on interdisciplinary projects in sustainable process technology
Labs/Teams: Member of the TCCB (Thermo-chemical Conversion and Biomass) research group, collaborating on biomass conversion and CO2 utilization initiatives.
