Derk W.F. Brilman

Dr. Derk W.F. Brilman is a Full Professor in Sustainable Process Technology, specializing in chemical engineering and carbon capture technologies. He holds an external position as Sr. Researcher in Reactor Technology at Sasol Technology (Pty) Ltd. (2002–2007). His research focuses on sustainable development goals, particularly climate action (SDG 13), through advancements in catalysts, adsorption processes, and reaction engineering.

Research Interests: Dr. Brilman’s work centers on CO2 capture and utilization, catalyst development, and thermodynamic modeling. He explores innovative materials like montmorillonite clays and hydrogel particles for CO2 adsorption, and designs energy-efficient reactors for methanol synthesis. His studies often integrate experimental and numerical methods to optimize industrial processes.
