Cynthia White is a distinguished Professor of Classics at the University of Arizona, with affiliations in French and Italian, Religious Studies, and Second Language Acquisition/Teaching. She has held leadership roles, including Administrative Director of the Basic Latin Program and Interim Head of the Classics Department. Her research focuses on Greek/Latin epithalamia, Augustan literature, and late antique/patristic texts, with interests in pedagogy and Roman cultural studies.
Education includes a Ph.D. in Greek and Latin from The Catholic University of America (1991), an M.A. in Classical Languages from Villanova University (1978), and a B.A. in Classics/History from Chestnut Hill College (1976). She has participated in advanced NEH seminars and summer programs in Rome, Oxford, and elsewhere.
Her awards span teaching, research, and travel grants, including the University Advising & Mentoring Award (2007) and multiple NEH and Fulbright recognitions. She has contributed to editorial work, such as the Fathers of the Church series at The Catholic University of America Press.
