Cynthia McCurren

Dr. Cynthia McCurren serves as Dean and Professor at the University of Michigan-Flint School of Nursing, a position held since 2021. With over 20 years of national leadership in nursing education, she recently completed a term as Chair of the American Association of Colleges of Nursing Board of Directors (2022-2024) and co-led the redesign of national nursing curricular models.

Her expertise centers on healthcare transformation through:

• Nursing education policy and reform
• Interprofessional practice models
• Community-engaged service-learning
• Addressing systemic inequities in healthcare delivery
• Interdisciplinary teams for adverse childhood experiences (ACEs)

As Principal Investigator, she secures significant funding including Michigan Board of Nursing Scholarship Funds (FY21-FY25) and Michigan Primary Care Association awards, supporting over $50,000 annually in nursing student financial aid.

Dr. McCurren champions academic-practice partnerships built on co-design principles, collaborating with community organizations to develop sustainable solutions for vulnerable populations while advancing the nursing profession's role in healthcare transformation.
